Selective Attention: the focusing of conscious awareness on a certain stimuli.
Cocktail-Party Effect: the ability to focus to one conversation while ignoring others. Hearing someone mention your name will grab your attention even if it occurs in a separate conversation.
Inattentional blindness: failing to see visible objects when our attention is directed elsewhere.
